How I created sales and marketing material for an Irish family-run pharmacy supplier
Project Overview
After graduating with excellent grades from my Masters Degree in Interactive Media from University of Limerick, I was itching to use the new work in a new industry and setting. Luckily, a contact in the university put me in touch with a local pharmacy supplier currently undergoing an expansion, and a few meetings later I was contracted to help build their new ecommerce platform, as well as their marketing and sales materials.
Challenges
The reason I was contracted was to allow their Senior Graphic Designer to focus solely on updating and upgrading their packaging, as medical labelling is one of the most exacting and heavily regulated packaging types (with good reason).
This relied on tight turnarounds in a fast-paced environment, pushing me and their sales and marketing lead to leverage their small size and agility to take opportunities larger competitors couldn’t.
One such project I proposed was to make a "monopoly money" style voucher to encourage a memorable way to appeal to wholesale customers, inspired by "Canadian Tyre Money", an institution of Canadian life.
Design
The goal of the SANA ecommerce platform setup was automation, but as we were one of the Dutch companies first major customers, this relied on a lot of back and forth with their support team to ensure it was communicating properly with our SAP database of products.
Once that was in place, the heavy lifting of the project was updating all of the information in the database with values needed for online purchasing, such as photography, colour options and regional shipping options.
This was in conjunction with my usual responsibilities of leaflet design, powerpoint creation and event stand building.

Conclusion
The SANA platform has evolved significantly since those early days but it’s a testament to its solid foundations that the company has maintained its use.
My time also allowed me to propose and act on new marketing ideas to present to the team, who encouraged creative ways to appeal to new customers.
Otherwise the experience was invaluable in putting my MSc to good use in both digital and print brand frameworks.
